The Department of Civil Emergency Planning – Protection and Security (C.E.P.) is under the Rector of the University of West Attica and aims to:

  • The organization, awareness and action of the Administrative services of the Institution in case of emergency or war.
  • The implementation and evaluation of the policy and measures related to protection and security issues within the University, in order to ensure the smooth and uninterrupted practice of educational, research, administrative and other activities of the Institution.
  • The support of the Security and Protection Committee of the Institution in the exercise of its responsibilities.

 

In the context of its mission, the responsibilities of the Department of C.E.P. include:

  • The safeguarding of the smooth and proper functioning of the University of West Attica.
  • The support of the Rector or the Deputy Rector appointed by the former in matters of protection, security and civil emergency planning, as well as the support of the Security and Protection Committee of the Institution for the exercise of its responsibilities.
  • The guarding of the Institution’s infrastructure and facilities.
  • The concern for the supply of alarm signaling system equipment.
  • The concern for the establishment of a special program to confront emergency situations (war, earthquake, fire, flood).
  • The concern for the preparation of a staff information program and the monitoring of its implementation by the competent services.
  • The concern for the determination of safe gathering places of the staff of the Institution in cases of emergency and that said places are maintained suitable for this purpose.
  • The planning of actions and the submission of suggestions to the Security and Protection Committee for the enhancement of the level of protection of the infrastructures and the equipment of the Institution.
  • The planning of seminars, actions, programs, events of informative character and other related initiatives and actions, in collaboration with public sector bodies or social bodies, in order to raise the awareness of the members of the Academic Community with regard to the actions required to confront emergency situations, as well as the preventive treatment of delinquent behavior within the premises of the Institution.
  • The cooperation with the competent Region for the coordination of the actions required by the respective circumstances in case of emergency.
  • The maintenance of a Register of all means, electronic systems and technological security equipment that are installed in the premises of the University and the preparation of security and disaster management plans, in collaboration with the competent bodies of the Greek State.
