International Study Programs

INTERNATIONAL STUDY PROGRAMS

In accordance with the provisions of law 4692/2020 of the Hellenic Ministry of Education it is possible for national HEIs to organize first cycle study programs in languages other than Greek (International Study Programs – ISP).

UNIWA, as an institution with a strong international orientation, responded immediately to state demands, establishing the Department of Foreign Language Programs in August 2020.

The main goal of the Department is to provide high quality ISP, which will enhance the extroversion of the university and will contribute to the upgrading of the provided education.

In particular, the establishment of the ISP Department aims to strengthen the international character and autonomy of the UNIWA, as well as the wider promotion of Greece as an international pole of attraction for foreign citizens wishing to study in the country.

It is of great importance that for the completion of the establishing process of an ISP, prior accreditation of the program is required by the Evaluation and Accreditation Council of the Hellenic Authority for Higher Education (H.A.H.E.), in accordance with the existing law provisions, before its final filing to the Hellenic Minister of Education. Accreditation is an external evaluation process based on specific, predetermined, internationally accepted quantitative and qualitative criteria and indicators that have been published in advance and are in line with the Standards and Guidelines for Quality Assurance in the European Higher Education Area (ESG 2015). The purpose of the accreditation is the assurance of the quality of the ISP, as well as the effectiveness and transparency of the overall functioning of the UNIWA.

These programs are aimed at foreign nationals of countries inside or outside the European Union, who are at least graduates of high schools or similar schools based abroad, provided that they have attended in full the last two classes of high school or equivalent in a foreign country.
