Professor of Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering, School of Engineering

Stavros Kaminaris is a Professor at the Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering at the School of Engineering, University of West Attica.

He holds a Diploma in Electrical Engineering and a PhD in Electrical Engineering from the National Technical University of Athens.

From 1989 to 2010 he worked professionally as an Engineer Consultant / Business Consultant / Researcher (freelancer) in the fields of Studies & Evaluation of Energy Planning / Energy Investments, E/M Studies & Energy Projects, Technical and Economic Studies of Technological Modernization Investments in SMEs, Research Programs and Development, Design Studies – Development & Installation of Management Systems according to EN ISO 9001, EN ISO 14001, EN ISO 18001, etc., Management of Community Programs, Preparation of Business Plans for Organizations and Local & Regional Development Programs.

Between 07/2007-07/2010 he was the Head of the Energy Projects Actions Department at Greek Development Company (ELANET), with the main responsibility of monitoring the implementation of technical projects that were included in the framework of European programs (Energy Saving and/or Rational Use of Energy and/or Conventional Fuel Substitution Projects and/or Utilization of Renewable Energy Sources (ELANET is an Intermediate Management Body that is controlled both by the Ministry of Development and the Ministry of Finance and by the competent auditing authorities of the European Union).

In 2010 he joined the teaching staff of the Department of Electrical Engineering at the School of Technological Applications, Technological Educational Institute of Piraeus.

Since 2018 he is a faculty member of the Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering at the School of Engineering, University of West Attica.

He has independent teaching at both the undergraduate and postgraduate level and is the supervisor of four (4) doctoral candidates, as well as participating in the three-member advisory committee of six (6) doctoral candidates.

His research interests include the following: Applications of Artificial Intelligence Techniques / Expert Systems / Fuzzy Logic in Electric Power Systems, Applications of Renewable Energy Sources, Advanced Building Automation Applications / Smart Electrical Installations, Advanced Industrial Automation Applications, Intelligent Control & Decision Making Systems, Saving & Rational Use of Energy, Maintenance of Industrial Equipment & Facilities, Fuzzy Control of Motor Systems.

He has published a significant number of scientific papers in international journals and has a significant number of citations in the international literature. Additionally, he has participated in international & national conferences with written & oral presentations, lectures and speeches. He is a Reviewer and a member of the scientific and editorial board international journals.

His administrative experience at the University includes:

  • 2018 – 2021 : Director of the Division of Electrical Industrial Arrangements and Automation, Department of the Electrical and Electronic Engineering, School of Engineering, University of Western Attica.
  • 2013 – 2018 : Head of the Division of Electrical Installations and Constructions, Department of the Department of Electrical Engineering, School of Technological Applications, Technological Educational Institute of Piraeus.
  • 2010-2013 : Deputy Head of the Division of Electrical Installations and Constructions, Department of the Department of Electrical Engineering, School of Technological Applications, Technological Educational Institute of Piraeus.

 

In addition, he has been a member of:

  • 5/2010 – 11/2011 : Regular Member of the Board of Directors of Maternity Hospital “Elena Venizelou” – Alternate Member of the Board of Directors of – Maternity Hospital “Alexandra”. Main areas of responsibility: European co-financed projects & Directorate of Technical Services issues.
  • 12/2011 – 2014 : Alternate Member of the Board of Directors of the interconnected Hospitals: Maternity Hospital “Elena Venizelou”, Maternity Hospital  “Alexandra” and Pathological Hospital of Athens “Spiliopoulio”. Main areas of responsibility: European co-financed projects & Directorate of Technical Services issues.
  • 6/2010 – 3/2012 : Consultant (without renumenation) to the Administration of the Hellenic Organization for Standardization (ELOT SA) in the areas of reorganization of services, monitoring of activities per Directorate, development of tasks and writing-submission of proposal and management of new projects / programs.
  • 4/2010 – 6/2010 : Member of the Board of Directors of the Hellenic Organization for Standardization (ELOT SA).

 

He has also been a member of the Delegation of the Technical Chamber of Greece (T.E.E.), as well as a member of the Executive Secretariat of Hellenic Federation of University Teachers’ Associations (P.O.S.D.E.P. A.E.I.) and President of Unified Association of Teaching and Research Staff of University of West Attica (ESDEP PA.D.A.). He is a member of the Standing Committee on Education of the Technical Chamber of Greece (T.E.E.) and a member of the Panhellenic Association of Mechanical and Electrical Engineers.
